ECMO Service

ECMO Service
Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) is one of the most advanced life-support systems used in modern medicine. It provides crucial heart and lung support for patients who are critically ill and cannot survive on traditional ventilators alone.
At Alpha Ambulances, we understand how vital ECMO can be in saving a life. Our specialized ECMO services are designed to deliver expert care, safe transport, and round-the-clock availability for patients who need continuous life support during transfer.
Our goal is to make sure every ECMO patient receives seamless, stable, and professional medical assistance — wherever they need to go.

What is ECMO?
ECMO stands for Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation, a system that temporarily takes over the function of the heart and lungs. It oxygenates the blood outside the body and then returns it to the patient, giving the organs time to rest and heal.
This treatment is often used in intensive care units and during emergency transfers for patients suffering from severe heart or lung failure.
How ECMO Works?
Doctors recommend ECMO when a patient’s lungs or heart are too weak to function properly, even with medications or ventilators.
Common situations include:
When ECMO Is Needed?
The ECMO machine pumps blood from the body through a special membrane that adds oxygen and removes carbon dioxide. Once purified, the oxygen-rich blood is circulated back into the patient’s bloodstream.
By doing this, ECMO allows the lungs and heart to recover naturally while maintaining life-supporting oxygen levels.
